Team Fortress 2 Spy Tips

As a spy, you are expected to be cunning and sabotage the enemy. That’s what being a spy is all about. For this reason, he must take advantage of each and every opportunity to do damage. Some of the things you can do to improve your spy skills include being deceitful and patient.

You should take things slow and wait for good opportunities to attack.

Your job is to watch and then take down the enemy from the inside making them vulnerable so your teammates can win the battle.

It can be very beneficial for you to learn how to disguise yourself as a friendly player. This gives you more opportunities to deceive the enemy and position yourself inside their lines. This is especially effective when you are on the go. Sometimes you can even allow yourself to be discovered so that you can lead the enemy into a trap. It all depends on what happens at any given moment, but you want to do everything you can to help your team win the battle.

You’ll find that many times the backstab won’t work as well as you’d hoped. This happens, but it shouldn’t stop you from trying to use it. You just need to keep trying and it will work most of the time. Don’t get too frustrated.

To do a backstab, you need to sneak up on an enemy player and hit them from behind with your knife. Always make sure no one is behind you when you do this or you will most likely be found out. Look for players at the back of the group and move forward.

When you are injured, you can shout for help and enemy medics will heal you when you are disguised. When the opportunity arises, take the time to reload your cape with enemy-dropped weapons and ammo boxes. It is also suggested that you do not run directly from the enemy line to your target location. This would seem strange to the enemy and he will be suspicious. Take a few detours and head sideways to slowly get to where you’re going.

You must decide who will be your target while you are inside the enemy line. Watch to see who is doing the most damage to your team and this can help you decide who to take out first. However, it is recommended that you avoid Pyros as much as possible. This class can cause you a lot of trouble.

Keep an eye out for people running random spy checks throughout the base, especially pyrotechnicians using their flamethrowers.

Your goal is to remain undetected, but if you are accidentally discovered and given the opportunity, you can try to run or hide until you can hide and get out of harm’s way. You can put on a new costume while camouflaged and this will buy you some time until you are safe.

Do not forget to use hiding places to avoid being detected.

Walls, boxes, corners, and even the outside of hallways are good places to stay hidden or travel to avoid being seen or accidentally bumped into.

Be unpredictable and don’t do what most people think a spy should do.

Never make close contact with your teammates when they are disguised or the enemy will wonder what is going on and why you are not trying to kill them.

There may be times when dressing up as a teammate is to your advantage. You can lead the enemy in the wrong direction or confuse them so your teammates can take them out.

You never want to ignore your teammates and try to take out the enemy alone. You have to work with them and for the good of the whole team. Once you’ve done your job, it’s time to head back to your team and heal up, refill your cloak, and get ready for another adventure.
