Places to See on Your Brunei Holidays

Like its colorful and precious gems and stones, Brunei has plenty of attractions in terms of exotic and unique tourist spots. It has all the variations of ancient reserves and ancient treasures. It has a number of untamed and immaculate ancient beauties.

Let’s explore Kampong Ayer or Water Village. Kampong Ayer is often described by early European visitors as the Venice of the East. The traditional and historic houses on stilts that stretch across most of the Brunei River are fascinating. Home to some 30,000 people, Kampong Ayer is accessible by boat or via wooden bridges from the houses of Kampong Ayer, which are linked by a maze of lifeless connecting wooden walkways. It is said to be the largest collection of stilt houses in the world. Most would say that a visit to Brunei Darussalam would be incomplete without a trip to this unique and intriguing place.

Another interesting keeper of Brunei’s ancient beauties is the Arts and Crafts Center, which is situated along the Brunei River. Sarongs are woven here, which are made in the traditional way and are intricately designed with gold or silver threads. These sarongs are worn on ceremonial occasions and have been for centuries, valued as family heirlooms and collector’s items. The Center also sells handmade silverware and jewelry.

One of its interesting and intriguing beach attractions is the Crocodile Beach or the Meragang Beach. It is located along the road towards Muara. I’m not sure where the name Crocodile Beach comes from, as you surely won’t find crocodiles here. Instead, the beach is a quiet place to enjoy the sea breeze and get acquainted with the expat community in the country. It is located 15 minutes drive from the city of Jalan Berakas and can be used by all tourists.

Labi’s captivating and splendid longhouses are one of Brunei’s many attractions. These are long houses, unique only in Bormeo, used as housing by settlers. It is a town under one roof. Longhouses consist of a row of single-family houses with a common area running the length of the building. Apart from this site, several of these long houses lead into the jungle. It takes you to the picturesque waterfalls and hills in the primary forest. These trails are relatively undemanding and guides are not needed.

Ulu Temburong National Park is popular with many wildlife-loving tourists. The area is rich in biodiversity. There are tree houses about 20 meters high that are connected by suspension bridges. It gives tourists an impressive experience while walking across these hanging bridges. River and mountain landscapes provide panoramic views. There is also a walkway over the forest canopy, giving scientists and tourists the opportunity to explore the upper layers of the forest, which are so rich with life.
