Old school music for today

Without a doubt, the music industry is changing rapidly, streaming live music, videos, mp3 download capabilities, radio play, blog posts, podcasts, and even vinyl are back. Who knows; Will cassette tapes and eight-track tapes make a comeback? The key to all of this is having a sound that moves you. Like many recording artists today, samples of other artists of yesteryear, there are still some old school originators who still have the funk; Groove and music that really touches the soul. Today’s music needs to have a sound that paints a beautiful picture and sets an atmosphere of love, hope and good times.

Not many recording artists have what it takes to take a sound from yesterday and turn it into today’s beat so you’ll be bobbing your head and stamping your feet to the beat. Music is something you need to feel resonate in your soul to move you to want to respond with a smile, a dance, a moment to reflect on the good times and even the not so great ones. It is something that frees you up and allows you some time to relax after a long day at work.

Funky guitar beats, followed by lead electric guitar solos, bouncy bass lines, smooth piano melodies, synth keys, hot horn arrangements, and drums all contribute to a sound that is danceable. Then when you add the modern voice box, also called the talk box, whether it’s done on the keyboard or on the guitar, as long as what is said is clear and understandable, along with a good rhythm; so this type of sound is accepted by most music lovers all over the world.

“Let Me Play It” is a demo from an old funk master who inspired Varges Thomas and many other musicians who continue to carry the torch. This is the sound that the late Roger Troutman left on the world. Varges spent numerous hours with one of the world’s top musicians who shared some of his tips and tricks for producing records. Certainly remarkable, “let me play it” has all the evidence of a student well instructed by his mentor.

As you listen to this old school music with today’s sound; the results are remarkable. Take some time to relax, listen to a beat that will take you to the dance floor and make your steps bounce. Whether on the dance floor, at home, in clubs, while traveling in your car or anywhere else you happen to be; the rhythm and beat of funk is here to stay.
