In addition to Italian food being delicious, Italian restaurants are often romantic. When you imagine sitting in a charming and cozy restaurant with a violinist serenading you, what do you think of? The best food in the world is what you think! Italian food is romantic food and most Italian restaurants play on that romantic feel.
One of those places in Chicago that is among the most romantic Italian restaurants is called Italian Village. This restaurant is a staple in the Windy City and is a must visit if you are ever in the Midwest. It has three different restaurants. The upstairs is very romantic with private dining rooms and a ceiling painted with a mural. You’ll feel like you’re dining under the stars in Venice. The upstairs restaurant is mainly southern Italian cuisine.
The entry-level restaurant features more modern cuisine, as does the decor. And the restaurant on the ground floor offers more traditional food from northern Italy. No matter what kind of food you like, you can find it at the Italian Village.
As for chain restaurants, Buca di Beppo is one of the most popular Italian restaurants in the United States. This great chain has the best cuisine in southern Italy. Newcomers to Bucas, as it is known, are given a tour of the kitchen, where there is a special booth reserved for VIP guests. Anyone can reserve this booth and eat in the kitchen if you call ahead.
Each room is themed and decorated with the kind of flashy decor that used to adorn most of my relatives’ houses. However, in Bucas it is charming and brings back memories to anyone of Italian descent. The atmosphere in Bucas is loud, lively and fun and the service is usually excellent.
You can get dishes like Fried Calamari, Bruschetta, Veal Parmesan, Ravioli, Spaghetti, Chicken Marsala and others. The list of entrees and appetizers is extensive, but be sure to only order one or two, as their portions are huge. You usually have a lot of Italian delicacies to take home.
Each city has its own Italian food restaurants that are popular. Some Italian establishments are family owned and some are chains. Check them out and try the different types of Italian cuisine and you’ll soon find your favourite.
Pizza is not considered Italian food. Pizza is an American invention. However, you can find food similar to pizza in many authentic Italian restaurants. Most Italian restaurants have their own way of making sauce and will offer either northern or southern cuisine. Some Italian restaurants will offer a bit of both to please all palates.
