Fundraising Ideas for Kids: 8 Simple Winners

Today, parents seem to be spending more and more money on their children as they finance their young and active lifestyles. Still, schools, clubs and the events they attend also need more and more money to keep businesses viable.

It can feel like an endless spiral for everyone involved.

The question is how to raise money for these organizations so that children can enjoy themselves as much as possible when they are at their activities, as well as how children can help themselves and learn the basic facts that very little is ‘free’.

Here are 8 simple fundraising ideas for kids of all ages! Sponsorship is often the best way to raise money through these avenues, although some lend themselves better to paying for the privilege of participating.

face painting– Organize a face-painting day, in which each child (and the accompanying adult) has to paint their face. You can design the event to coincide with an important event or just something you like.

casual dress up day – A day out of school uniform is always a winner with the kids. It also works just as well with clubs like Scouts and Girls Brigade.

sponsored silence – always a winner with parents! 24 hours without talking can be a blessed relief for all adults, just don’t say that to kids!

Dancing – this one needs a bit more organization than most, but is suitable for children of all ages. It can be tied to a series of fundraising events or the culmination of a school year or festival.

guess the number – fill a jar with a variety of goodies and make the kids guess the number inside. Winner takes all (plus a possible trip to the dentist if he uses the perennial favorite: candy).

wet them – Get someone in authority to go to some traps and have the kids throw wet sponges at them. Mix the water with a little flour and the results are even more satisfying for children…

talent contest – Most children have an interest in the various TV shows that showcase extracurricular talents. Why not organize your own fundraising event?

grocery bagging– Contact your local supermarket and see if they will allow your children to collect donations while helping customers pack their purchases. Especially popular at the busiest times of the year.

Make the kids take responsibility for fundraising and let them have fun at the same time. You will be in a fundraising winner.
