Floods that cause traffic accidents

It’s hard to believe how much rain has fallen on the UK in the last month. In fact, most of the UK has had a well above average amount of rain, with some areas having the wettest June on record. This rain has wreaked severe havoc on our roads, many of them cut off completely.

The chances of traffic accidents increasing considerably when it rains more than normal. When our roads have been dry for some time and suddenly the skies open up and rain falls, this can seriously affect driving conditions. Asphalt becomes almost as slippery as ice when hit by water after a period of dry, warm weather. It just takes driving a little too fast on a roundabout or turning in general when if the ground slips too much you can lose control and skid down the road.

Since the rain began, there have been numerous occasions when people have been late for work due to accidents on the road or have been involved in a traffic accident.

Being in a car accident can be quite a frightening experience. Losing control of a spinning vehicle into the path of oncoming traffic is every driver’s worst nightmare.

You might think that if an accident occurs due to natural weather conditions, even if they are extreme, then it is no one’s fault except Mother Nature or climate change. This is true up to a point, but if a river overflows or a bridge collapses, then it is the council’s responsibility. If you were in a traffic accident and it was due to extreme water on the roads or because you tried to avoid colliding with another vehicle that had lost grip, then you may be entitled to claim compensation for any pain and suffering. Claiming compensation for accidents that were not our fault is our civil and legal right. It is not fair for a person who has to look for the cost of having weeks of work, repairs to his car, all due to a traffic accident.

There seems to be a stigma attached to claiming compensation. A lot of people think it’s reserved for the lower classes, if you don’t mind me using the old class system. That’s not true. People are also put off by what they believe to be a complex legal and financial process. The truth is that claiming compensation for saying a traffic accident is a simple and painless process. All it takes is one call to an Accident Claims firm to get the ball rolling. They will then send you a form or questionnaire to complete. Once you have completed the form, you can sit back and let your attorney do all the hard work. You won’t have to pay a dime for this lawsuit as most lawyers work on a “No win, no pay” basis, which means they won’t take the case unless they are 99% sure they will win. Lawyer’s fees will be paid once the case is won. If for any reason the case is lost, the Attorney’s fees will be paid by “after the event insurance”. This is really a simple way to claim compensation for an accident that was not your fault.

So if flooding has caused you an accident, don’t think there’s nothing you can do about it, call an attorney and see what they have to say. Remember that if you do or say nothing, the same accident could happen again to someone else. But if you take a stand and seek compensation, those responsible will do more to protect people the next time we have flood warnings.
