Easter Bunny Keepsake Box for Boys and Girls
Most girls have cute earrings, bracelets, and assorted trinkets. What they need is a box to store them. With the help of mom, dad, or big sister, here’s a cute bunny box to store those treasures.
Young children will also have fun making these keepsake boxes, and will probably think of other animal faces to create.
What you will need:
1 round craft box 3″ x 4″, can be found at craft or discount stores.
1 – piece of felt (for ears)
1 piece of pink felt (for the ears)
2 white 1″ pom poms (for the nose)
1- ½” pink pom pom (for the nose)
1- hard nylon fishing line (for the whiskers)
2- ¼ black buttons (for the eyes)
1- small pot of white craft paint
1- small pot of pink craft paint
1- bottle of craft glue
Addresses:
1. Paint the outside of the craft box top and bottom white – let dry
2. From the white felt cut out two ears. They should be approximately 2″ x 5″ inches in length and diameter. It will look like a long leaf.
3. From the pink felt, cut out two smaller ears (for the inside of the bunny ears). These should be about 1 ½” x 4″ in length and diameter. These will also look like a long leaf. Then glue the pink ears on top of the white ears. Let dry.
4. Cut two holes in the center of the top of the box, about 1 inch wide, to insert the ears. Push the ears into the holes. Then apply glue around the openings to secure the ears to the top of the box; let dry.
5. Glue the two white pom poms to the bottom half of the side of the box, for the nose. On top of the two white pom poms glue the pink pom pom.
6. From the yard of nylon fishing line, cut six 2-inch pieces. Dab the pieces with glue. Then tuck three pieces behind the left side of the nose, then three pieces on the right side of the nose, for the whiskers.
7. Glue the two black buttons on the nose for the eyes. Lastly, paint two pink circles next to the bunny’s nose, for rosy cheeks.
Change the color of the box, the shape of the ears and the colors of the pom poms, and this rabbit face can be easily changed to make a dog or cat face. Be creative!
