cool jobs for teens

As a teen jobs website owner, I know a lot about teen jobs. After many years, it seems that camp counselors are still one of the best jobs for 16-21 year olds.

Why is a Camp Counselor a Great Job for Teens?

Camp counselors are typically high school and college students who watch over the kids during camp, supervising, and planning the day’s activities. Here are three reasons why being a camp counselor is one of the best and most sought after jobs for teens.

The first reason is that you can work outdoors and have the ability to have fun while you earn and you can also hang out and socialize with other teenagers. Some other reasons are because they can try new activities that they would never otherwise have the chance to do, like canoeing or mountain climbing. Other reasons are that you can do what interests you. For example, if you’re a soccer player or cheerleader, you might work at soccer camps or cheer camps. This allows you to work in an environment that you are passionate about.

Most camps require camp counselors to be at least 16 years old. However, there are also opportunities for 14 and 15 year olds to work in the camps. Usually, the camp will pay for the cost of admission, but you will not be paid. This is still a great opportunity, you can have fun for free and when you turn 16 you will be in a great position to land that job.

Know that we learned why a camp counselor is a great job for teens. Here are some tips on how you can find one.

The first suggestion is to start early. Most camp counselor jobs are posted in the winter and are usually filled in April or May. If you start looking in the spring, you will be late.

Another idea is to do some research on Google and look up all the campgrounds in your local area. Then contact them and ask how you can apply for a position. The direct approach is always a good idea.

My third piece of advice is to also look for teen job sites. Some great ones have popped up that cater to teens looking for summer jobs.

Good luck with your job search.
