From thrilling and exciting theme parks and county shows to the quieter and more relaxing activities of antique hunting and nature parks. Activities in Lincolnshire are vast and there is something for everyone.
The coast has a fairly large seal population, so it’s always worth visiting Natureland’s rescue centers at Skegness and Mablethorpe to learn about the life of this playful creature.
Saltfleetby and Gibraltar Point offer local bird reserves which are also worth a visit. All of these centers host regular conferences and special events related to wildlife.
Activities in Lincolnshire also include exciting theme park rides, the resorts at Skegness, Ingoldmells and Cleethorpes always offer something for all the family. There is a variety of evening entertainment presented at the Embassy Theatre, Skegness, The Dunes, Mablethorpe and the Tropicana Club at Chapel St Leonards. The Skegness Illuminations usually begin at the end of July near the Clock Tower, which was built to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Jubilee, just like the Mablethorpe Illuminations.
Many hotels and residential pubs host regular theme nights and weekend events. Some of these will complement events that take place in the local community, such as fairs, annual sporting, cultural and traditional events. There are numerous art, antique, agricultural, and entertainment festivals held at locations throughout the county throughout the year.
Of course, activities in Lincolnshire also include festivals and concerts, art and sculpture, boats and buildings, all of which can be found in the cosmopolitan city of Lincoln. Lincoln Cathedral makes an unforgettable day for a visitor to this historic city. Guided tours of the cathedral are offered, as is nearby Lincoln Castle.
The High Street Quarter is the ideal place for shopping, with its pedestrian mall and the recently regenerated Waterside and St Marks Area. It’s also a great place to grab a bite to eat or enjoy a coffee in one of the city’s trendy cafes, and at night it comes alive with the many bars and clubs there. The Brayford Waterfront features sculptures and a public viewing platform. Boat rides and a nine-screen cinema with the latest movies are offered. At night, the promenade area has a very nice, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The famous Waterfront Festival that takes place in July, with many shows, stalls and much more. And finally, Lincoln’s Cultural Quarter has ‘The Collection’, a great new museum that sees archaeological finds alongside fine decorative and contemporary visual art. Lincoln Drill Hall is the city’s premier arts venue and hosts an incredible mix of events.
