10 of the BEST places to find nonprofit jobs

Along the way in the work I do with nonprofits, churches, and schools, I meet people who sometimes ask me for places and resources they can use or search to help them find a job.

Every day I’m on the phone with someone who’s in the nonprofit sector, and every once in a while someone says, “Wayne, I’m at a point in my life where I want to make a difference at work.” Yes. Do you have any idea where I can look for job opportunities in the nonprofit sector? Or, they could tell me that they are looking to change jobs within the industry and are looking for something new and exciting.

If this sounds like you and you’re looking to change jobs or even careers, take a look at what I consider to be some of the best places to find a job.

  1. Association of Fundraising Professionals: If you are looking for an opportunity in fundraising, you can check out AFP. They have hundreds of opportunities for fundraisers and grant writers. If you are looking to work in an organization as a CEO or CEO, you can also check out the career center here.
  2. The non-profit professional meeting: This job board belongs to The Nonprofit Times. Job postings here aren’t as plentiful as those at AFP, but are geared toward more seasoned and seasoned professionals.
  3. Global charity work: The name says it all. If you are looking for opportunities abroad or for international organisations, you should check out our global charity jobs. It is one of the top places job seekers go when looking for opportunities around the world.
  4. The Chronicle of Philanthropy: This is an excellent source of job opportunities. Organizations that post job opportunities are usually medium to large organizations. They have jobs in all functional areas within a nonprofit organization, including executive positions, program jobs, fundraising, marketing, and finance.
  5. Idealistic: This is a great source of jobs around the world and also volunteer opportunities. Volunteering is a great way to get your foot in the door of a nonprofit and see if it’s something you’d be interested in doing long-term if you don’t have nonprofit experience. The organizations that publish on Idealist tend to be small to medium-sized non-profits.
  6. National Council of Nonprofit Organizations: This is also another great site for finding job opportunities in multiple areas of a nonprofit organization, including membership services and information technology.
  7. common good careers: This is a simple and easy to navigate site, and it has a lot of information. Not only does it have job boards, but it also has an excellent knowledge center, which is a great added value for those looking for a new career opportunity and HR managers within organizations.
  8. Philanthropic News Digest (PND): The Foundation Center offers you jobs and information about the PND. You’ll find another great resource for jobs in all areas of a nonprofit on this site. It is brimming with opportunity, and a “go to” place for many years.
  9. The Bridgespan Group: This organization is one of the leading global service providers for non-profit organizations in the world. He is an excellent source of information about the philanthropic industry in general, and his job opportunities are all over the world. The positions tend to be professionals with more experience and in medium and large organizations.
  10. Nonprofit Jobs.org: What makes this site interesting is that it is comprehensive and powered by ExecSearches.com. Their goal is to connect mission with talent, and if you’re looking for someone to review your resume, they have a resume review service so you can have your resume reviewed by a professional before you start your submissions.

If you have found places where you have found non-profit job opportunities that are not listed here, please let me know so I can pass the information on to you.
