For CRNAs, continuing education is important to maintain their certification. The American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AARNA) has approved continuing education courses for CRNAs. You can enroll in one of these courses online or in person, and complete the credits within two years of becoming certified. In addition to attending classes, CRNAs must take a continuing education quiz every two years. A nurse anesthetist should be prepared for this exam, which is available online.

Free CEUs for nurse anesthetists can be obtained through various educational activities, including nursing conferences, seminars, and workshops. You must check the state board of nursing’s CEU requirements before registering for any CEU activities. Often, employers will offer Nurse CEUs to their staff for free. These courses are generally offered by a CRNA society or hospital. However, be sure to check the eligibility requirements of the educational program you are attending.

Continuing education for nurse anesthetists can also be taken through the AANA. The association provides continuous review of CE programs and courses for medical professionals. Attendance records are kept for CRNAs who complete the required courses. AANA also provides certificates to CRNAs who successfully complete the course. In addition to Continuing Education for Nurse Anesthetists, the AANA offers several webinars on various topics relevant to the field of anesthesia.

UF Health CRNAs can also earn continuing education credits through CME programs. CRNAs are required to earn 100 CE credits every four years to keep their certification. Classes A and B CEs can be applied toward or used to meet this requirement. UF Health CRNAs can also earn free CE by attending Friday morning lectures offered by the UF School of Nursing. In 2016, the UF Health department will be paying the AANA’s application fee.

The NBCRNA has approved several programs offered by SIUE, including ACLS, BLS/PALS, and a CRNA recertification course.
